The meaning behind Sect20

Hi, my name is Barnaby and I am the founder of this blog.

Before I detail the meaning behind the name of this site I wish to tell you a little bit about me. At the age of 14 I was signed into care under a section 20 agreement between my parents and social services. Since that time I have been moved around to various placements including emergency foster care, a 52 week residential placement and various children’s homes. This was a difficult experience for myself but it wasn’t until recently that I realised that many young people end up in the same position that I have been in, not knowing where to turn to and who to ask for help. It was with this in mind that I decided to create this site to help promote better understanding of the difficulties associated with growing up in care and to allow young people in these environments to voice their opinions.

I hope that this site can help to aid others in getting through their struggles whilst being in the UK care system, one post at a time.
